There was a lot of hype about the Perth wicket and especially about Australia dominating Indians this tour, however, India, after being bowled out for 150 runs in the first innings, produced a miracle turnaround to hand Australia a heavy defeat of 295 runs.

Many Australian former cricketers had given no chance to India this time, especially on the Perth wicket considering that India were coming on this tour after an unexpected whitewash of 3 – 0 from NewZealand at home.

Glenn Mcgrath in an recent video with Damien Fleming has revised his prediction and believes that Australia will still win the series by 4 – 1. The former Australian bowler had earlier predicted 5 – 0 series win for Australia.

“I will probably have to change my prediction now. It cant be 5 – 0 anymore. I am going 4 – 1.”

“Today, I just wanted to see the Aussies fight and take it into Day 5. Unfortunately, they couldn’t do so because India played so well”. Mcgrath said further.

India need to win another 3 more matches in order to secure their place for the World Test Championships next year. In case they do not win another 3 matches then they would have to depend on the results of other teams.

Dilemma for the Australians

For any team touring Australia, the Perth wicket is expected to be the most tormenting wicket for batters, however, it was Australia this time who was on the receiving end courtesy of Bumrah, Siraj and Rana. The headache for the Australian camp is to decide the nature of the pitch for the second test match which would enable them to challenge the in-form Indian batters. Usually, the Adelaide Oval pitch is one of the batting-friendly pitches in Australia. The surprising factor however can be the pink ball which often does a lot of seam movement under the lights.
