If you have watched debate shows on News channels covering trending topics, you may have seen Suhel Seth presenting his strong arguments. The man with wavy white hair with immaculate English, and vocabulary, Suhel Set, can be called a multi-faceted professional. He is a businessman, columnist, author, and an actor too who has also done theater.
Family Life, Upbringing and Education
Suhel was born to Jogendra Seth and Shubh Seth in the year on 28th May 1963. He also has a younger brother by the name of Swapan Seth.

His father’s chemical business brought comfort and social standing, however, it was later forced to shut down as the political situation got bad in Kolkata, and the Naxalites’ activities and frequent strikes made it impossible for the business to continue.
Suhel studied at the La Martiniere School in Kolkata. As per his own words, he was “one stubborn bloke” and his parents eventually supported him in his choice to pursue acting, which was one of his many interests!
Suhel was quite good at studies. Through his hard work, he had gotten admission to IITs but shockingly refused the admission as he wanted to pursue English Literature.
By 1987, he had completed his BA in English Honors and MA in International Relations and Affairs from Jadavpur University.
As per his own words, Suhel once tried to seduce the neighbour’s daughter in the park. When asked about his age, he revealed that a man is as old as the woman he feels. To which the reporter asked him about the youngest age woman with whom he had slept, he replied 22.

Looking back on his younger days with a hint of nostalgia, Suhel Seth once shared that he tried to seduce his neighbour’s daughter.

Career, Starting Equus and Retirement
In an interview, Suhel revealed that he started his career in 1990 at Ogilvy as a Management Trainee. His salary at that time was Rs 650. After that, he joined a company to market tobacco products, which he later regretted.
After his stint with the tobacco company, he joined Peragine, an investment bank in Hong Kong.
In 1996, he started Equus along with his brother Swapan Seth and took the help of Martin Sorell. However, he got tired of advertising due to frustration. Suhel opined that his work required meeting with marketing managers, who Suhel believed were not willing to work hard to get results.
On 1st April 2006, Suhel opined that he retired from work with enough money to live a reasonably good life. However, Mr. Krishna Kumar, from the house of Tata, asked him what he wanted to do, to which Suhel replied that he only wanted to advise the chairpersons and CEOs and charge a hefty amount. That’s how he started Counsellage, a brand-marketing agency catering to only the top tier management, i.e., the CEOs, Founders, and similar hierarchy roles.
Suhel Seth Wife
Suhel Seth was married to Sandhya Narain in 1989, however, the two got divorced in 1993. While the complete reason may not be known, he revealed in an interview that he wanted to have kids while Sandhya wanted to focus on her career.

Suhel started dating Lakshmi Menon in 2015, and the couple got married in 2018. Suhel was quite clear that he wanted a child if the duo got married. Lakshmi is 18 years younger than Suhel Seth and a renowned supermodel who is still active in the modelling circuit. The couple has one daughter named Gayatri, born in 2019.

Allegations of Misconduct
Diandra Soares was one of the women who openly accused Suhel in the 2018 MeToo movement of harassment and groping. As per Diandra, Suhel, during a party, allegedly groped her chest over her clothing on the pretext of being drunk. She went on to reveal that Suhel kissed her later on her lips and that she retaliated by biting his tongue. After nearly 6 women accused Suhel of sexual harassment, his brand image advertisement contract was terminated by Tata Sons and many other prominent conglomerates.
A video clip went viral showing Suhel inappropriately touching a woman speaker during the Jaipur Literature Festival event.
