Whenever Salman is in the news, fans worry about the cause of it and almost like clockwork, one question comes everytime : When is he getting married?
Recently, the trailer of NetFlix’s The Kapil Sharma Show was released, and it shows Salman getting asked about his plans to get married.
Now, earlier we have seen how Salman used to dodge these questions with humor or vague responses. He did use humor asking Archana and Sidhu why they seemed so excited about the idea of him consummating his marriage on the wedding night.
But this time around, something was different and Salman opened up.
“Nowadays, even something as trivial as a spouse’s leg resting on you during sleep, or snoring, can spark disagreements that escalate into full-blown divorces and fine if divorce happens, but they also take away half of the money.” Salman said in the Netflix’s Kapil Sharma Show.
He not only shared why he hasn’t married yet but also hinted at why he may never marry at all. While it’s a laughter show, Salman may have given a serious reason for staying away from marriage, especially in India and he may be totally right in his perception of it!
While discussing why he’s still unmarried, Salman Khan may have indirectly taken a subtle dig at the Indian judiciary.
He didn’t outright criticize the country’s divorce settlment laws, but his statement highlighted the concern of many eligible Indian men that God Forbid if divorce happens, the legal system tends to favor women—often requiring men to pay substantial compensation.
He also pointed out that that for someone like him with so much wealth, the mere idea of rebuilding his life after a setback like divorce would be an extremely difficult task.
Cause of divorce in Salman’s Family?
Salman expressed that even seemingly trivial issues—like a leg touching the body at night or snoring—can spark disagreements that eventually lead to divorce.
It’s interesting that Salman chose to highlight the particular point. Whether he witnessed such problems within his own family is something only he would truly know.
Salman’s remarks may also indicate a broader concern shared by high-profile individuals like himself, Hrithik Roshan, and even Aamir Khan i.e. men who, despite fame and wealth, are appearing reluctant to remarry.
The underlying reason, as implied by Salman, lies in the unpredictable and often harsh nature of marriage and divorce laws in India.
Indian courts have a reputation for issuing tough verdicts and you can find many related news about it, where the courts have given threats of jail, even when the husband is genuinely unable to pay alimony due to health or financial issues.
Another point worth noting is the lack of transparency around the divorce settlements of Bollywood celebrities.
The alimony amounts given to Malaika Arora by Arbaaz Khan, or to Sussanne Khan by Hrithik Roshan, have never been publicly disclosed.
While exact figures remain unknown, it’s widely assumed—given the fame and fortune of these men—that the settlements involved large sums.
Judging by the way the judiciary tends to handle such cases in India, it is reasonable to believe that the financial implications were significant, especially when compared to the average Indian divorce scenario.
