ChatGPT has revolutionized the way we get personalized answer to our query. And its only going to be better in the future. Gen AI machines usually caution people to seek medical advice or professional treatment whenever it gives answers related to health and medicine. While it may be imperative to see health related information provided by ChatGPT with a grain of salt, sometimes its suggestion may save someone’s life.

A reddit user has shared his story on how ChatGPT saved him from a heart attack by warning him of its arrival in few hours.

The story is shared by username SineBiryan who wrote that he was working late at the office and after wrapping work at around 2 A.M., he felt tightness in his chest. The user assumed that it was probably due to lack of sleep and stress and tried to shrug off the uneasiness.

He continued working glued to the screen but suddenly something in his mind prompted him to ask ChatGPT about the symptoms of chest tightness and uneasiness that he was facing at that time.

He wrote the prompt “What could be causing chest tightness, dizziness, and nausea” and was expecting some general answer from the ChatGPT. However, the Gen AI took it seriously and asked whether the user was facing other symptoms also like shortness of breath, sweating, etc.

ChatGPT paused the user mid-sentence and immediately replied that “These symptoms could be serious and may indicate a cardiac event or other medical emergency. Please consider seeking medical attention immediately.”

SinBiryan realized the uneasiness he had been feeling and that how not normal those symptoms were. But considering the time 2 A.M., he was not feeling compelled to visit the doctor thinking that those symptoms were probably due to stress and anxiety only.

However, the user kept thinking about ChatGPT’s response of seeking medical attention immediately. He took his keys and immediately went to the Emergency Room of a hospital.

To his surprise, the treating doctor told him that he was in the early stages of a cardiac arrest event and that the situation could have been fatal if he had not seeked medical attention within an hour.

In his reddit post, the user has thanked ChatGPT for compelling him to seek medical attention and has urged people to not ignore symptoms if they feel not normal.

The post has garnered nearly 50,000 likes till now and close to 2000 comments.
