India, a country which is known for its cultural emphasis on arranged marriages, a surprising observation has been noticed. A private investigator who recently appeared on Raj Shamani’s podcast revealed a shocking observation that says Post- matrimonial verification are now more common in India than pre-marital verification.
“Post-marital investigation is now a lot more as compared to pre-matrimonial investigation” says Baldev Puri, who runs an investigation agency by the name of AMX Detectives.
The private investigator further reveals that a significant majority of post-marital investigations are done on women. He explains that this trend is largely driven by the perception that India’s legal system is more favorable towards women, especially in cases involving marriage-related disputes.
Such a revelation from a prominent investigator comes at a time when we are hearing cases frequently in India about marital disputes which are pre-planned by ill-intent women.
One such case stands out where it was reported in May 2025. A woman was arrested after it was found that she used to run away with money in few days after marrying. You will be shocked to know that this particular woman by the name of Anuradha Paswan, married 25 men in a span of seven months. After every marriage, she would loot the valuables and abscond. She was termed as loot-and-scoot bride” by police.
Finance and Health concerns are key reasons behind rising pre-matrimonial verifications
The founder of AMX Detectives also revealed that finance and medical are the key reasons for pre-matrimonial investigation. He highlighted from his experience that many NRIs and Indian men often lie about their assets and income.
Baldev Puri opined that while his agency provides services for pre-matrimonial checks, he encourages his clients to do the same thing on their own as it not only saves the cost but also encourages a transparent discussion between two families who are looking forward to establish a life-long connection.
Why do more and more people are seeking post-matrimonial verification?
In an ideal scenario, most of the checks and verifications should be done before marriage in order to get a clear glimpse about the person especially in terms of personality, ongoing affair and any illegal activity.
