Family, Education & Personality Traits
He was born in a Tamil Brahmin family whose financial status was similar to lower-to-middle-class bracket. He did law from IIT Kharagpur’s‘ Rajiv Gandhi’s School of Intellectual Property Law.
Initially, he wanted to pursue Aerospace Engineering but didn’t score enough marks to get a seat, therefore he settled for Mechanical Engineering from Anna University in 2006. He is the first one in his family to step into the field of law.
He wanted to pursue other fields also and thought of civil services. He jokes that he doesn’t understand why people go after MBA.
He is well-practiced in Kalaripayattu, which is a form of martial arts. He is not willing to join politics. “I am very happy as a Vakil (Lawyer). I am very happy with what I am doing. I don’t have aspirations beyond it. ” He opines.
Personality Traits: – He is introverted who doesnt like camera and he suffers from insomnia. He loves dogs and relaxes with them in his free time. At one time, he used to be fat. He went down from 109 kilos to 84.6 kilos.
Career
Jayakumar Sai Deepak (J Sai Deepak) is a Mechanical Engineer turned lawyer who is an arguing counsel at Delhi High Court and Supreme Court.
He is a commercial litigator and as per him, his 80% of work is about intellectual property rights, competition law, indirect taxation and etc.
In a 2023 interview, he opined that he has been practicing law roughly from 2009. He was a partner in the Law Firm till 2016 after which he started his practice as an arguing counsel. He opines that he works for nearly 16-17 hours a day.
J Sai Deepak believes that meaningful discussions on TV debates cannot happen and that’s why he does not take part in them.
Marriage
He is married. His wife’s name is Akshara Bala and the duo got married somewhere in 2014.
