The deadlock regarding the venues of Champions Trophy between BCCI and PCB seems to be continuing. While BCCI has refused to send Indian cricket team citing security reasons, members of PCB believe that BCCI is not sending its team due to political conflict and not because of security threat.

As per recent sources from Pakistani media, ICC offered significant compensation money to PCB for agreeing to the Hybrid model where India would play its all matches outside Pakistan, including the knock out games too. However, PCB has rejected the proposal and has shown no interest in letting the India Pak match to be hosted anywhere except in Pakistan.

Sources also confirmed that in case Pakistan decline the hybrid model and India sticks to the decision of not sending its team, the Indian matches will be held outside Pakistan while the India Pakistan match will be forfeited. The India Pakistan game is the broadcaster’s favourite as it the fetches the maximum revenue from the broadcasters.

Fate of Champions Trophy to be decided on 29th November Board Meeting

Since both BCCI and PCB are sticking to their prerogatives, the ICC has called for the much-awaited board meeting on the 29th November where it is expected that all the cricketing nations except BCCI and PCB will cast their vote whether they are willing for the Hybrid model or not.

Earlier Sports Tak had claimed that the board meeting was scheduled on the 26th November however, the digital channel later itself confirmed about the meeting on the 29th of November.

Sources have said that Pakistan is unwilling to accept Hybrid model despite heavy commpensation from ICC as it sees the marquee event as an opportunity to revive cricketing interest in the nation which has been on the decline since many years due to no home matches and detoritating performance of the Pakistani team in ICC events.
