If sources are to be believed, Pakistan’s head coach Gary Kirsten has lashed out on the Pakistan team for not performing upto the mark in the ongoing world cup. Pakistan, as usual, performed below par against India however, the biggest upset for the men in green was the defeat against the minnows USA who are participating in the world cup only on the merits of being a co-host country.
Kirsten in his angry speech in the dressing room, after Pakistan barely crossed over the line against Ireland, said that its the first cricket team he has witnessed in his coaching tenure that doesn’t possesses unity.
Kirsten has a prolific portfolio in his coaching career after his tenure with Team India. He was brought after a lot of consideration by the new PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who himself has expressed major dissappointment after Pakistan lost to India despite chasing a below par total.
After the Ireland match, Kirsten has returned straight to his home country South Africa. Reports suggest that Kirsten had strong words with players regarding their match awareness, their skill level as compared to other nations and their inability to gel with each other due to one or the other reason.
It would be interesting to see the changes in the Pakistan Cricket team and even in the administration or coaching after this horrific performance from Pakistan.
