Witnessing a downfall in both its wireless and wireline subscribers, BSNL has taken an urgent decision to overhaul the existing copper-based broadband connectivity in Tamil Nadu with its fiber network within the next 6 months as per their official announcement.
The BSNL Fiber Network consists of plans from 10 Mbps to 300 Mbps that will not only provide a faster bandwidth with lower latency compared to the existing copper line but will greatly improve the voice quality on the landline connection. Bsnl has excellent wireline coverage in Tamil Nadu with nearly 4.6 lakh FTTH connections and the aim is to convert the existing 1.2 lakhs copper connections to the fiber network.
Zero Installation Charges
BSNL has urged the existing wireline subscribers to apply for the upgrade as part of the initiative. Anticipating the fierce competition from Jio and Airtel, the company is upgrading the connection without any installation charges. There are no charges also for the modem router. The company is leaving no stone unturned to retain its customers who are switching to other telcos like Jio and Airtel in both wireline and wireless domains. The company has even asked its FTTH partners to reach out to customers and persuade them to upgrade.
Rs 249 plans only for new customers?
While the announcement says that the customers can upgrade to the minimum plan of Rs 249, the official website indicates that the Rs 249 and Rs 299 plans are available only for new customers!
