After the YouTube’s policy update was announced a few days ago, there are many reports viralling on social media that YouTube will be excluding the AI-generated videos from montization.
Ever since the arrival of AI tools like ChatGPT and Google Gemini, content curation has become extremely easy. And now, on YouTube, you can observe many channels that are making curated content which do not provide any significant, original, or unique perspective in their content.
And there are now even AI tools that can produce the video footages. While these footages may seem engaging at first, but they clearly seem AI-generated, which breaks away the engagement, or which makes them uninteresting after a certain time.
Youtube has now given an updated announcement on support.google.com where it states that there is no change to the existing policies about resued content.
YouTube has never said that it will be banning the monetization of AI-generated videos because they are deemed to made with low effort that provide no significant value to the viewer.
Many people are believing that a content having AI-generated videos means it is not worthy of monetization. However, that is not the case. YouTube has never explicitly said that it is against the use of AI in content creation. In fact, it has clearly permitted to take AI assistance as long as it is able to provide value in the content.

In fact, in one of the policies defined years ago for websites to gain quality traffic through content, Google has said that it has no problem with people using AI in their content as long as the content is beneficial and provides significant value addition to the reader.
This clarifies that the AI videos can still be monetized on YouTube. In fact, there are a number of channels on YouTube which are all AI-generated but has a significant value addition through visual footages,, script writing and storytelling.
So what are the examples of Content that may not get monetized on Youtube after the update effect from 15th July 2025?
Youtube channels that produce mass content, specifically by uploading the same exact content which is on the platform may get perceived as low valuable and hence not worthy of monetization from Youtube. Examples could be the news clips that are often shared by many channels without providing an in-depth explanation.
