Sonal Goel is an IAS Officer who is currently posted as the Resident Commissioner, Tripura Bhawan in New Delhi. She was born in a business class family of Panipat, Haryana. His father was a Chartered Accountant. She has an elder sister and a younger brother.
His father had apprehensions about allowing his daughter to pursue IAS coaching as the success rate is only 1% but more importantly, he was worried about finding a suitable groom for her daughter if she clears UPSC exam. After feeling assurance from her daughter, the father gave all her support to Sonal for UPSC preparation. Her father passed away in October 2023.
Her mother has been suffering from kidney ailment since 2010. She got her kidney transplant done in 2016.
Education And Career
Sonal Goel did her schooling from D.A.V. Public School. and then did her graduation in B.Com Honors. In order to augument her expertise in finance, she also did graduation in CS. She has also done LLB.
She was doing part-time job during her IAS preparation. Once she got selected, she got the Tripura cadre. She is from the 2008 IAS Batch and had secured AIR 13. She joined the Haryana Cadre in 2016.

Marriage
She met her husband Aditya Yadav for the first time at ICSI institute at Delhi in 2004 while giving her CS exam. Aditya Yadav worked in the private sector for 10 years before clearing UPSC and subsquently became an IRS Officer in 2014. The couple got married in June 2009 and have two kids. Sonal opines that the duo had to spent nearly first years of 8 years apart from each other due to postings at different places.
