Vijendra Singh Chauhan is a popular teacher, social media influencer who is well-known for his mock interview videos in order to help the UPSC aspirants. He has been taking mock interviewes since nearly two decades now and has been a professor at the Zakir Husain Delhi College.
Family, Upbringing and Education
Not much is known about his Vijender Singh Chauha’s family except that he was born in Bhajanpura, Delhi on 8th July however the year of birth is not known.
His father was a labourer in government sector . He has done his education from government centers (initially MCD schools then later on government schools) and government college and opines that his family could not have afforded to school him if there no government funded schools and colleges. And this is why he is a strong advocater of government funded education.
Not many people know that Dr. Vijender also tried to crack the UPSC exams but failed. Vikas Divakriti and Vijender Singh Chauhan are college friends and latter decided to crack the UPSC exam as his friend Vikas also preparing for it. He gave mains exam two times but failed. After that he didn’t gave attempts because he wanted to become a teacher. Once he became a teacher, he realized that its the best profession for him.
Took admission in Electrical Engineering: – In an interview, Dr. Vijender Singh Chauhan stated he had taken admission in Electrical Engineering but later shifted to Hindi honors as he was fond of that subject. He then went onto complete PhDs.
How he started his journey of Mock Interviewing: – In an interview, Vijender stated that his college friend Divyakriti resigned from the government service soon after the selection and started Drishti IAS, a coaching institute for UPSC candidates. Vikas realized that there was no interview training guidance for UPSC aspirants in Hindi language. And therefore he started UPSC mock interviews in Hindi. He hired Vijender as a mock interviewer because not only they were friends but because he believed that Vijender has the personality traits of mock interviewer. Dr. Vijender was also unemployed at that period of time in 2005 -2006.
Criticism of the Government: – Vijender clarified that although his salary is funded by the government but the college comes under autonomous organization meaning that he is technically not a government employee or a civil servant which is why the likes of him have the freedom to talk and criticise the government on any issue.
Marriage And Children
He is married to Neelima Chauhan who is also a teacher. He met his wife for the first time during a debate competition. The couple got married early and soon his wife got a teaching job in Delhi University. The couple have a daughter. He has also done acting recently.
